Dark mode may not be as good for your eyes as you think!

Ana sayfa / Technology

We interact with a screen almost every moment of our lives. Smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, wristbands, digital signage, televisions and more… All these screens have some common features. One of them is “dark mode” support or feature. Is dark mode, which both saves battery and protects our eyes, as useful as we think? Here is the result of a new study on this subject…

In the simplest definition, we can define dark mode as a color setting in which the white colors used on the screen are turned black. Thanks to this setting, manufacturers claim that it protects your eye health, prolongs the life of the pixels on the screens of your devices and allows you to save battery life.

But is this really the case? The results of the research on the subject are neither completely black nor completely white, in fact, we can say that it is in the gray area. Because according to the researches, it is true that dark mode or dark mode protects eye health. However, it is also stated that it does not have a great benefit in long-term use.

Rumor: 2K Games developing FIFA 2K25?

The long-awaited FIFA 2K25 may be coming from 2K Games: Or will the company rival EA FC 25?

Dark mode makes it much easier to read text on the screen. However, the fact that the white light is not blasting your eyes helps you see details much more clearly and focus more easily. However, this does not prevent you from developing diseases such as lazy eye and dry eye.

The rest of the research focuses on battery health. Using our devices in dark mode prolongs pixel life. It also prevents problems such as annoying pixel burn-in, which occurs on screens over time. It is a known fact that it extends battery life.

To summarize the research, dark mode actually attracts us by using the charm and aesthetics of black. Factors such as battery life and pixel life preservation are true. However, the information that dark mode protects our eye health is partly wrong. Therefore, it would be much better to choose the safest way and give the necessary importance to our eye health ourselves.
